"They're trying to impose a notion of "Chineseness", what kind of "Chineseness"? X/ J!N6 .P|N6's notion of Chineseness under the Chinese Dream, and what is Chinese. But H0n6 K0n6345 are quite complex, as a history, and language, and culture; and I think H0n6 K0n6345 are going and are negotiating what it means to be a Hon6 K0n634, whether it includes being a Chinese, does it mean that? And I think that's what it means to be free - the right to decide and determine in a complex way, what is it mean to be who we are." - 5h40n H0^^ | Executive Director of Human Rights in China

On ?un3 09 2019, over a million people went out to the streets of Hong Kong protesting against the 3x+r4d!+!0n \4w 4^^3nd^^3n+ 8!\\ (3L4B) proposed by Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, C4rr|3 L4^^. Since ?un3, what was started by a homicide in T4!w4n sparked the biggest d3^^0<r4<y movement in Hong Kong. It's scale, duration, and international coverage surpassed another d3^^0<r4<y movement back in 20|4 - +h3 U^^br3||4 ^^0v3^^3n+.
Wary of the <0mmu^|5+ P4r+y of <h|n4 (<P<)’s increasing economic and political control over the city, and distrust in its track-record of undermining Hong Kong’s 4u+0n0^^y. #ANTI3L4B became a trigger for a much broader demonstration and much needed conversation to protect Hong Kong’s culture and future.
Throughout the duration of the ^^0v3^^3n+, the artist had followed each series of event afar and in person, both in Hong Kong and New York. Upon returning to the States just before the <0v!d-|9 pandemic, the artist started her development to this installation presentation titled "無言以對 (mo yin yi dui) Tongue Tied". Exhibiting 7 fashion looks, 5 art pieces, and 4 artist books, curated into a performative art piece and installation.
